Drink This, Wear That: Candy Cocktails!

Three years ago my sister Katherine and I started a cocktail blog called Fashionably Bombed.  We shed a lot of blood, sweat and tears working on it, and now our hard work has finally paid off!  We got what most bloggers dream about...a BOOK DEAL!  Say "Hello" to Candy Cocktails: 50 fabulous candy based cocktail creations!  So what does one wear while mixing up candy cocktails??? Why a candy print dress from Modcloth and a teeny, tiny lollipop necklace, of course!  Get ready to get your sweet tooth tipsy!

House Tweaker: My Home Office Makeover!

Five years ago my husband and I sold our 1,000 square foot house and bought a 4,000 square foot house.  Apparently we like to go big AND go home.  But honestly, it was completely and totally overwhelming at first.  It's one thing when one bathroom needs updating, it's another thing when FOUR bathrooms need updating!  When we found out I was pregnant two years ago, my husband asked me what the most important thing on my pre-baby "To-Do" list was, and I said, "MY OFFICE!!!"  I was NOT going to have a baby unless I had a place to go get away from the baby!  Kidding...sort of!

Fashion Tweak: DIY Flower Pin

Who doesn't love a pop of color?  What about an explosion???  I was recently at a fabric and craft store when I saw these huge neon pink flowers!  I had to have them, DUH!, but I wasn't sure what to do with them.  By themselves they seemed cheap and flimsy, but stacked three high, they pack quite a neon PUNCH!  Add a brooch base to the back and you've got yourself one hell of a conversation starter!

Step #1: Cut off the wire "stems"

Step #2: Put glue on the bottom flower and lay middle flower on top

Step #3: Press two flowers firmly together (Repeat steps with additional layers)
Step #4: Glue the brooch base to the back and let dry

Style Challenge: Small Floral Prints

Seeing someone else wearing your clothes can sometimes be scary.  Like, for example, when I was at the airport a few weeks ago and I saw an old French woman wearing this J.Crew shirt.  MY J.CREW SHIRT!!!!  I thought, "OH GOD! Do I look like an old granny when I wear that shirt???"  My husband reassured me that I don't, but still...I didn't realize how hard it was to pull off tiny prints without looking ancient!  Anyone out there want to share your personal struggles with itty bitty florals so that I don't feel so alone???

Style Inspiration: Mosaic Wall

This may be a little TMI, but I think I'm in love with a wall.  The turquoise, yellow and orange color combo, the Mid-Century vibe, the fact that it's in a rough part of town, across the street from a tattoo shop...HOT, HOT, HOT!!!  Fortunately my fab photographer, Amy, is always game for ANYTHING!  We got quite a few honks, cat calls and a, "DAMN! You sexy as hell!" from a homeless guy on a low rider bicycle.  Good times!

5 Ways to Wear Stripes! Look #5: Mixing Stripes & Florals

Anyone remember this dress from my very first Fashion Tweaker post?  I was so young and innocent back in 2013!  I love mixing prints, but I know it can be scary.  If it works, you can end up looking super high fashion, but if it doesn't you can end up looking like a crazy homeless person.  Either way, you won't be boring! But if you're not quite sure how to get started, try wearing stripes with another print as an easy way to dip your toe into the pattern mixing pool.  And then send me a pic, or post it to my Facebook page at least! Since this is my final look in the striped series I'm dying to know which of the five is your fave! Don't hold out on me!!!

5 Ways to Wear Stripes! Look #4: Casual Stripes

Today I'm talking casual stripes.  This happens to be my "go to" travel outfit.  It looks good with flats which keeps me comfortable walking through airports, but it's still fun and colorful.  I bought the pink and red striped (my signature!) skirt at J.Crew and didn't think too much about what I would wear it with.  Then I brought it home and realized how amazing it looks with this shirt I found at T. J. Maxx for $19!  It was the best fashion accident ever!  My husband doesn't usually have a lot to say about what I wear, but for some reason he always asks me to wear this's really weird!
